shim Welcome to the Elementary School section of our site.
We are a small Christian school with a big sense of purpose and vision providing daily opportunities for teachers, students, parents and volunteers to make a positive and life-long impact on each other. The staff here is terrific, and the parents are very involved and supportive. Come see for yourself!

I also invite you to contact me or our school secretary, Mandy Steen, for additional information or to set up an appointment to tour the school and meet the staff.

Middle School Science Presentations

Thursday, March 22 at 7:00 PM

Each year our Middle School students work on science projects with the goal of presenting their research to an audience. Based on their theme of the human body and their introduction to the scientific method, this year the Middle School “scientists” have done experiments on how the body works. Each student will share the results of his/her research on the following topics: peripheral vision, the sense of touch, the body’s reaction to energy drinks and the comparison of a cardio vascular workout with stretching. Anyone interested is invited and welcome to attend and support this effort. Refreshments afterwards.

Recent notices & reports from the school:

Oak Arbor Teachers’ Inservice - March 14 (no school)
On behalf of the General Church Office of Education, in her capacity as a support teacher, Kay Alden conducted a fantastic inservice for Oak Arbor teachers on Wed., Mar. 14. Her topic was “Brain based teaching”. Recent educational research on how the brain learns is positively influencing current teaching practices. These findings can guide teachers to provide meaningful and delightful education. And the research supports New Church educational philosophy (i.e. teaching from the affections, the importance of the “as of self”, the power of use-oriented learning, etc.).

Second Oak Arbor School Benefit - March 10th

Our second school benefit event turned out to be a great success!  From the catered dinner, to the silent auction and stage entertainment, all was well orchestrated - and everyone had a wonderful time! Our theme this year was "Honoring Our Country's Servicemen & Women Through Music & Service". Attendance was significantly up from last year's event, and our guests were very generous.  Our thanks, in particular, to Nathaniel Brock who was "the man behind the curtain," the mastermind behind all the activity. He brought many volunteers together to create an amazing evening.

All Day Scrapbooking Extravaganza was a big success!

January 20, 2007

What an amazing and productive 3rd annual "All Day Scrap" event and fundraiser! It really did turn out to be better than ever! Our social hall was buzzing with over 75 scrapbookers, vendors and helpers. Huge thanks go to Pam Steen and her co-chair, Karen Waters, and all the many support people who did so many things to make it a wonderful and profitable day.

Mitten Tree

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this voluntary program to help needy folks in the Rochester area. Your donations were all delivered on Thursday December 7th to the Rochester Area Neighborhood House.

Poinsettias

Thank you to everyone who supported this year's poinsettia fund raiser. All the plants have been delivered, and your help collectively generated $400.

Gifts for the School

Traditionally many people give gifts to the school and church at our Christmas Eve Service. Click here to open a MSWord document that provides many suggestions from the school teachers. If you have something else in mind and are wondering if it’s suitable or needed, don’t hesitate to check with a teacher directly.

Thank you all for your donations to the drive for Food and Personal Care items

During the Thanksgiving season, the school collected non-perishable food items and personal care items for the local Food pantry.  These were delivered after the Thanksgiving service along with the fruit/food given from the congregation. Thanks go to Karin Childs for her instrumental help in organizing this annual activity.

Yea! Another fund-raising success story

New Art Room Cabinets Installed

On behalf of the faculty of the school I would like to thank the Theta Alpha Women’s Guild for the generous contribution that helped make possible the improvements to the school's art room. We now have installed a lovely set of oak cabinets that enhance the functionality and aesthetics of the room. Thanks very much for the work that goes into raising the funds that support projects like this one. Nathaniel Brock
